The compact immune booster (Echinacea angustifolia)

The narrow-leaved echinacea is the compact and particularly hardy cousin of the well-known purple coneflower. Originally native to the dry prairies of North America, this hardy perennial has made a name for itself worldwide as one of the most important medicinal plants for strengthening the immune system. With its low, bushy growth habit and characteristic, slightly drooping pink-violet petals, it is a real gem for rock gardens and sunny borders.

Certified organic seeds – sustainable and environmentally friendly.

  • Natural defences: Echinacea is highly valued in modern naturopathy. Both the herb (leaves and flowers) and the roots are used in teas or tinctures to activate the body’s own defences.
  • Compact & hardy: With a height of 15 to 40 cm, this species remains significantly smaller than other coneflower varieties, making it ideal for containers or the front edge of a border.
  • A magnet for insects: Despite its smaller size, it offers a rich supply of nectar and is a popular destination for bees, wild bees and butterflies.

Cultivation & Care

The narrow-leaved coneflower is a specialist for dry locations:

  • Location: Prefers full sun. It copes much better with heat and drought than many other perennials.
  • Soil: It loves well-drained, rather poor and dry soils. Waterlogging must be avoided at all costs.
  • Growth: The plant is perennial and fully hardy.
  • Propagation: Pre-cultivation in trays is recommended to protect the young plants from slugs and to ensure even germination.
